Bubble Tea

Today I went to a restaurant called, Twisted Soul, which serves a melting pot of different foods from different countries. I often go there with my friends to grab some bubble teas. I always get mango bubble tea. You can never go wrong with mango. Never. That must be the asian in me.

I dread the winter

I cannot tell you how much I hate winter. I hate snow. I hate shoveling. I hate the cold. All I want is summer. Please. And yet I tell myself all the time I'm staying in New York forever instead of moving to a warmer state. The only thing I can say I like about winter is that I can layer a bunch of crap on my body. Layering is one of my favorite things in the whole world. About 90% of the apparel in my closet has the potential of good layering capabilities. So until summer comes around and I start to sweat bullets I will keep on wearing my sweater-button down-scarf-tshirt-jacket sandwich.

Black Swan...again.

Despite the blizzard in New York I managed to leave the house and go to an independent movie theater in a nearby town, Rhinebeck (you know, where Chelsea Clinton got married?). I watched Black Swan yet again and it was still as impeccable as the first time. Please watch it, for your own sake.

The white Christmas came a day late

Being snowed in calls for contemplation on the things that I simply adore...that means you, Erin Wasson and Salvador Dali. I adore you.

Hope you had yourself a merry little Christmas

So I just got home from my family's Christmas party and damnit we are one rowdy group of people. Every two seconds one of my aunts would say, "Lets disco!". Little did they know while they were doing their secret santa's, my lovely friend Ryan and I were having our own disco upstairs to the sound of silence.

(New Dooney and Bourke bag, compliments of my ever so handsome boytoy.)

Have yourself a nice dance party. xox.

Lumberjack and Leather

For the past two days I've been a slave of Adams Fairacre Farms, working 9 hours non-stop dealing with customers endlessly. But what do I do instead of rip their heads off and scream in their face to get out so I can sit and relax? I smile and think "Damn, I'm glad I came to work in nice clothes." Optimism.

'Tis the Season for Insanity, Fa La La La

The holiday season has left everyone in a bundle of stress from last minute shopping. I worked a nine hour shift today at the local supermarket, Adams, and it was such a hellish ordeal. It was non-stop chaos and I probably wrapped about 100 poinsettias.

You'd think a long day at a part-time job calls for sweats and plain t-shirts, but I certainly would never EVER walk out of the house in such an outfit.

I wore a vintage Gap polka dot button down that I found at a Salvation Army over a gray Gap shirt. I paired my outfit with my vintage Dooney and Bourke purse, studded rings, and a vintage Guess watch. Did I mention I love vintage?

You only have one life; Do it in style.

Another year is coming to an end....
Yesterday, I took a trip up to Red Hook, NY to visit a thrift store, Tiki Boutique. As a Christmas present to myself I treated myself with a vintage Dooney and Bourke bag. Dooney and Bourke have been one of my affordable designer bag favorites. The classic, but also elegant, styles and the simplicity are what forces me to do nothing but fall in love with the brand.

I also bought vintage Etienne Aigner loafers. Although they are too big for my feet without socks, I can wear them as a winter shoe with comfy thick socks.

Cool is When Vintage Meets Modern...

...but what if I don't want to be what's cool and hip and trendy? What if all I want to wear is vintage for a day? Well then let it be so!

"Everything I buy is vintage and smells funny.
Maybe that's why I don't have a boyfriend."

Natalie Portman as Swan Queen

Natalie Portman plays an anorexic ballerina perfectionist in the movie Black Swan. The psychological thriller had me on the edge of my seat and so engaged. I dove into the world of New York ballet and into the mind of Nina (Portman). Portman may be up for an Oscar for her role. It is well deserved; she shed her good-girl persona and went to the dark side with success.

School for Cool

So today was my last day of classes. One more semester in Dutchess Community College then I'm off to Pace/Fordham/Columbia/NYU. Fingers crossed for NYU. I'm halfway done with the application process and the anticipation is building. I wish admission offices wouldn't wait so long to tell us whether they like us or not. Talk about shady in a sense.

I'm looking into internships in the city right now and a local newspaper. Cross your fingers for me! And maybe your toes.

On another note:
Boy do I love Nylon Magazine. They recently came out with a new book: "Street View". It displays the fashion sense of the young people of NYC, Tokyo, Los Angeles, etc. It's interesting to see what inspires the mind of youth today, why their fashion is their fashion. I strongly suggest you buy this book. Hey, you never know who may inspire you within the pages.
